Farmer's Breakfast Box
Our brand-new Farmer's Breakfast Box will be a weekly third-bushel box (same-sized box as our Small Vegetable Share) containing a simple variety of six locally-sourced breakfast staples, as follows:
• One dozen Chicken Eggs or a half dozen Duck Eggs**
• One 21 oz. loaf of fresh-baked slow-rise bread from our friends at Nashoba Brook Bakery in Concord, MA
• One 12 oz. bag of fresh-roasted whole bean coffee (medium/dark roasts) from our friends at Karma Coffee in Sudbury, MA
• One 6-ish oz. chunk of a beautiful New England farmstead cheese
• One 8 oz. (2 sticks worth) bar of specialty butter from a New England producer
• One locally-sourced, breakfast-themed, surprise "pantry item" each week such as honey, jam, maple syrup, etc.
And there it is, Farmer Chris's most important meal of the day... in a box! You'll enjoy a wide variety of different breads, cheeses, butters, pantry items and coffee beans week-to-week, selected from our favorite producers in the region.
**Now, an important note on the EGGS. We'll make every effort to source local chicken eggs or duck eggs for your weekly share. That said, given the current trajectory of avian flu, chicken eggs may become impossible or cost-prohibitive to source for some time, which is in part why we're excited to offer duck eggs as an alternative. If neither is available on any given week, we'll substitute another breakfast protein of similar value, such as a specialty nut butter or a second chunk of a favorite local cheese. Meantime, our hearts go out to poultry farmers around the region, and around the world, as they work to keep their birds healthy and safe.
