Field Crew
Overview
Siena Farms’ Field Crew is a full-time, seasonal position ending November 25, 2025 (Thanksgiving week). Field Crew members are hard-working, committed, passionate individuals who participate in many daily farm operations, including production, harvest and post-harvest handling. We expect our Field Crew members to approach tasks thoughtfully, embracing a team effort to achieve the farms’ goals for quality and efficient work, along with their own goals of developing their farming career through professional work experience. Our Field Crew is integral to daily operations and ultimately to the success of Siena Farms as a business and as a member of the community. Previous farming experience and Spanish language proficiency is preferred.
Areas of responsibilities for Field Crew members will include but are not limited to the following;
Harvest & Post-Harvest
- Daily harvest of our 150+ varieties of vegetables, fresh herbs, mushrooms and flowers
- Post-harvest handling, including washing, curing, packing, and transporting produce
- Preparation and packing of CSA Farm Shares
- Preparation and packing of orders for restaurant deliveries and our retail stores in Boston
- Support for farm outreach events such as CSA member farm-tours & volunteer days
Crop Production
- Planting, including greenhouse propagation and mechanical transplanting in the fields
- Cultivation/weed-control by hand and hoe
- Field work such as trellising, pruning, fencing & thinning
- Involvement in mushroom, cut-flower, and large scale veggie production

Schedule
Our Seasonal Field Crew position is considered a full-time, seasonal position, averaging 50 hours/week spread over 5 days. Core schedule during December through May is Monday through Friday, 7am – 5pm. Core schedule June through November includes 5 days a week from 7am – 5pm, with a “Friday/Saturday” weekend, or a “Sunday/Monday” weekend. One paid hour of lunch break per day is allotted to all farm staff on any given work day.
Compensation
- Compensation is hourly. Benefits include a weekly CSA vegetable share, employer-covered health insurance benefits, an accrued paid-vacation time.
- Perks include a weekly veggie farm share to take home, additional access to surplus produce, plus employee discounts at Siena Farms' retail sites as well as at family restaurants Oleana and Sofra.
Other
- We do not offer on-farm housing
- Reliable transportation to and from the farm in Sudbury is required.
